Our Story

One & Eight jewellery is designed in our studio in South Devon. Nestled in the rolling hills yet close to the coast, our rural environment provides inspiration for many of our designs. From the smooth tactile nature of the stones and driftwood found on our local beaches to the all to often grey skies!

The porcelain pieces are made by hand so unique in form and size. They are glazed and fired before adding colour to the surface using individually designed ceramic transfers or lustre.  All our jewellery is either Sterling Silver or Gold Vermeil (18k gold plated sterling silver).

Inspirational packaging has become part of the One & Eight brand. Who doesn't love a little tin, elegant bottle or cute printed paper?! All our pieces are uniquely packaged and wrapped, creating the perfect gift.
Our company ethos is to provide only the best pieces of jewellery accompanied by friendly and efficient customer service.

Team One & Eight

Suzie - Founder and Owner of One & Eight.

Suzie has a degree in Fashion and Textiles and worked as a fashion buyer in London for many years. She grew up in Totnes, moved back here and immediately undertook an intensive ceramics course. From the moment the course started Suzie was hooked on ceramics and couldn't stop experimenting with clay. This is how One & Eight was born! She's grown it from being just her in her spare room to employing 4 people and having a lovely studio and office in Totnes.

Rach also worked as a buyer in London for years. She now sources all the components we use at One & Eight. She's often the first point of contact if you drop us a line and spends lots of time keeping our wholesale clients happy.

Jenny runs her own business making wreaths and animals from wicker and other plants. She runs popular workshops locally too. For One & Eight she's our clay expert. She hand makes our necklace discs before she adds the transfers and blends the colours for our coloured clay pieces.

Tasha worked in marketing and promotions for many years but also worked for an artist helping to make intricate artwork. She now puts together our jewellery and also does our social media.

Ali is our newest member of staff. She has done a ceramic course and helps Jenny with the ceramic work.
