Susie worked as a fashion buyer in London for many years. Having grown up in Totnes, she moved back with her family and immediately undertook an intensive ceramics course. From the moment the course started Susie was hooked on ceramics and couldn’t stop experimenting with clay. This is how One & Eight was born! She’s grown it from being just her in her spare room to employing 4 people and having a lovely studio and office in Totnes.
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
Last year I went to Costa Rica with my husband and kids. It was the most incredible holiday destination. We did everything from stay in nice hotels to trek through the forest with not another person in sight. There was so much wildlife to see and I can’t even begin to describe how amazing the sunsets were.
Tell us something about you we don’t know…
I love interior design. In another life I’d be an interior designer. I’m always looking at new trends and if I had endless money would redecorate my house all the time.
Describe your ideal Sunday afternoon…
A hike over the moors followed by a nice glass of wine in the Live and Let Live in Landscove.
Where’s your favourite place to go out?
The Old Bookshop, Bristol. I went there for the first time recently and loved it. Live music, great food, I went with friends and we had the best night.
